[06:37:43] <strit|M> bschnei: Don't get me wrong, I was not complaining. Just wondering/curious. So this repo is done with special flags that make it v8.2+ only?
[06:37:43] <strit|M> A couple of my devices can boot some generic installs, so I might try them either way. 🙂

[10:19:33] <Solskogen> strit|M: yes - the drzee repo is (for now, at least) only for ARMv8.2-A or higher.
[10:20:00] <Solskogen> and only for SBCs that are in mainline kernel (plus Pi5)
[10:37:50] <strit|M> Most of mine are in mainline, so it's worth a try. 😛
[10:57:52] <Solskogen> Please do! And report any problems!

[12:30:07] <strit|M> Or are most if it just the regular x64 PKGBUILD, compiled by ignoring the arch= array?

[18:07:32] <Solskogen> strit|M: Most are regular PKGBUILDs, and if they're changed somehow you'll mostly find them as MRs.
[18:08:06] <Solskogen> But with a few exceptions
[18:08:29] <Solskogen> Not all of them are public, just yet.

[18:38:50] <Solskogen> There's a MR for chromium, for which I hope would help a lot. Some of the releases of chromium builds, while other don't.
[18:39:06] <Solskogen> I'd suggest using Firefox instead :-)

[23:49:19] <bschnei> strit: sorry didn't mean to come across as defensive. Just tyring to be super transparent because ARM is so different from x86 and want to avoid "you didn't tell me it wouldn't work on ARM device X!" :)
[23:52:58] <bschnei> I tried a long time ago already to pacstrap/mkarchroot with packages built with -march=armv8.2-a on a v8 device and while it didn't explode, it repeatedly gave some error along the lines of "invalid CPU instruction". So it may indeed be possible that some things could work, but I stopped short of trying to actually boot a kernel compiled for v8.2 on a v8 device.
